Having been around for 40 years, Edition Moderne is by far the oldest of the independent comic publishers in the German-speaking world and an internationally respected institution: titles such as Persepolis by Marjane Satrapi, Die heilige Krankheit by David B. and 120, rue de la Gare by Tardi are milestones of the genre today.

After several years of collaboration with founder David Basler, Julia Marti and Claudio Barandun have been running Edition Moderne since September 2019. With fresh ideas, a love of detail and a lot of passion, they are writing the history of the publishing house and performing comprehensive creative and mediatory work in the process. They put together the programme, conceptualise and design the books, communication media and website, and present and network the authors and their books at exhibitions, fairs, festivals and in the publishing house, fairs, festivals and in the Edition Moderne bookshop.
